L'Archipel des Sept-Îles

Nature
Outdoors

The archipelago, which gave its name to Sept-Îles, is a combination of various ecological milieus enhanced by a terrain featuring seascapes of exceptional beauty.  About 565 million years old, the islands making up the Sept-Îles Archipelago were composed largely of anorthosite and granite.  They are also prime witnesses to the history of the region. They observed the Basque fishers and hunters, became acquainted with explorer Jacques Cartier when passing through in 1535, and watched the coureurs des bois, Innu, and European merchants travel to and from the trading post situated not far from their homes.

They have always seen the whales blow, the dolphins leap, the terns dive, the molluscs evolve and the baby penguins “fly”. Each of the seven islands has its own unique treasure and history.
